WHY SO MANY ROBOTIC PROSTATECTOMY LAWSUITS?

May 17, 2018 by Bert Vorstman MD

Prostate CancerScores of lawsuits have been filed against urologists performing robotic prostate cancer surgery, the device manufacturer and the hospitals promoting this “treatment”.

In fact, upon googling “robotic prostatectomy lawsuits”, over 17,600 results come up. Perhaps even more alarming, when googling “robotic prostate cancer surgery lawsuits”, an astounding 559,000 results are seen.

The fundamental reason why prostate cancer surgery causes great harm and fails to save few if any lives is because it has never been scientifically proven to be safe or effective. It has only been legitimized as “standard of care” through the foggy processes of physician herd mentality, consensus medicine and institutional authority.

When the procedure jumped from risky unproven conventional surgery to the hazardous robotic prostate cancer procedure, the operation bypassed again any scientific steps to prove that this so-called treatment was safe or effective. Without ever being tested on even a single case of prostate cancer, the robotic device was simply given a rubber-stamped FDA approval by exploiting the FDA’s misguided 510(k) process.

Because robotic prostatectomy has never been proven to be safe or effective through evidence-based scientific studies, causes numerous injuries and, fails to save significant numbers of lives, it’s hardly surprising that this toxic surgery is involved in so many legal battles.
